Joining a WhatsApp group no longer means missing out on previous discussions thanks to the new Group Message History feature.
Many people use WhatsApp’s group chat feature for personal or institutional purposes because of the ease of exchanging messages or photos. But when new members join a WhatsApp group, they are unable to access old important information. To solve this problem, WhatsApp is introducing the ‘Group Message History‘ option in group chats.

In a blog post, WhatsApp said that by using the group message history feature, new members will be able to read important messages discussed in the group. These messages will support end-to-end encryption technology, so no one other than the group members will be able to know. The group message history feature is being gradually introduced.
According to WhatsApp, the last 25 to 100 messages posted in a group will be visible in the group message history. This will allow new members to learn about the information discussed in the group recently and express their opinions. However, even if they want to, new members will not be able to see all the older messages discussed in the group.

Incidentally, currently, important messages exchanged on WhatsApp can be pinned for 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. However, in a group chat, other members cannot pin messages even if they want to, without the administrator’s permission.
